Presne tak. Do Opatova sa dá jednoducho dopraviť metrom C a odtiaľto autobusom číslo 363 a 385 priamo do Pruhonic. Zo zastávky je to len kúsok a ocitám sa priamo pred zámkom. Bol som tu už niekoľkokrát, preto ponúkam fotky z jari 2007 a leta 2008.

Exactly. Opatov can easily be reached by underground line C and from there by bus number 363 and 385 directly to Pruhonice. From the stop it is just a jump and I find myself right in front of the castle. I have been here several times, therefore I offer photos for spring 2007 and summer 2008.

Zámok je veľmi pekný a zrenovovaný. Na nádvorí kvitnú azalky, rododendróny a ruže.

The castle is very nice and renovated. Azaleas, rhododendrons and roses bloom in the courtyard.

Začiatkom mája nastáva explózia sýtych a krikľavých farieb. Drobné neopadavé azalky (vľavo hore a vpravo dole) sú charakteristické ružovými a fialovými farbami. Vysoké opadavé azalky majú zas teplé odtiene a sladkú vôňu.

Early in May there is an explosion of vibrant and shimmering colors. Small evergreen azaleas (top left and bottom right) are typical of pink and purple colors. Taller deciduous azaleas have warm shades and sweet smell.

Pri pohľade zblízka vidno rôzne ornamenty a nástenné maľby.

When looking close up, you can see various ornaments and wall paintings.

V lete som stretol takúto peknú mačičku. Užívala si deň na terase pri balustráde. No komu je lepšie.

I met this wonderful kitty in summer. She enjoyed the day on terrace underneath a balustrade. Who can be happier.

Výhľad z terasy na jazero pred zámkom. Naokolo vidno rozsiahly park s množstvom drevín z celého sveta.

Okolo jazera Around the lake

Pravým oblúkom od vchodu do zámku vedie dolu kopcom v hustej stromovej vegetácii cestička k jazeru. Okolo jazera vedie široký chodník, okolo ktorého na každom kroku rastie nejaká raritka. Napríklad vysokánske a staré cezmíny sú neprehliadnuteľné.

By the right curve from the entrance of the castle the path leads me downhill through the hillside to the lake. There is a wide walk around the lake surrounded by rare species growing at every step. For example, tall and old hollies can't be overlooked.

Pekný kus opadavého ihličnanu tisovca dvojradého (Taxodium distichum). Obzvlásť na jar má trávovozelené mäkké ihličie. Vyhovuje mu vlhko až plytká voda.

Nice specimen of deciduous conifer bald cypress (Taxodium distichum). Especially in spring it bears grass-green soft needles. It prefers moisture to shallow water.  

Pohľad na koniec jazera. Farebné azalky svietia už z diaľky. Vľavo stojí nejaký druh dubu, vzadu rastú červenolisté buky (Fagus sylvatica ´Atropurpurea´).

Pohľad z miesta na predošlej fotke. Rozkvitnutá flóra perfektne rámuje celkový obraz. Vôbec pri tom neprekáža, že je zamračené.

View from the location pictured on the previous photo. The blossoming flora perfectly frames the overall picture. It doesn't mind that it was cloudy.

Opadavé azalky sú vlastne rododendróny (Rhododendron mollis). Sú krikľavých farieb a voňavé. Listy pred opadnutím sa pestro sfarbujú. Opadavé azalky sú navyše menej náročné než klasické rododendróny.

Deciduous azaleas are actually rhododendrons (Rhododendron mollis). They are vibrant and fragrant. The leaves before falling become colorful. Deciduous azaleas are, moreover, less demanding than classical rhododendrons.

Z tohto miesta vedú cestičky rôznych smerov. Odporúčam odbočiť vľavo, smerom ku strmej skale cez mostík ponad potôčik.

From this point, they paths lead to different directions. I recommend turning left, towards the steep rocky slope over the bridge and creek.

Aj tu na prirodzenom svahu kvitnú azalky (Azalea japonica). A náramne im to sluší. Na skale rastú zakrpatené borovice, smreky a rôzne ešte nekvitnúce skalničky.

Azaleas (Azalea japonica) also grow here, on natural hillside. And it suits them very well. Dwarf pines, spruces and various yet not flowering rockery plants grow on the rock.

V lete na tej istej skale vynikajú žlté santoliny (Santolina chamaecyparissus) a mrazuvzdorné kaktusy opuncie.

In summer, on the same rock, shine yellow santolinas (Santolina chamaecyparissus) and hardy cacti, opuntias.

Cesta sa ďalej vinie popri svahu a potoku až do lesa. Tu nachádzam ďalšiu križovatku. Vydávam sa nahor do kopca. Aj tu v tieni stromov rastú rododendróny. Kvôli tieňu sú síce redšie, no kvitnú celkom bohato.

The road continues alongside the slope and the stream to the forest. I find another crossroads here. I'm going up the hill. Even in the shade of trees rhododendrons grow. Because of the shadow, they are even thinner, but they bloom quite richly.

Zbierky The collections - Jar Spring

A prečo som sa vydal týmto smerom? Pretože na vrchole sú rozsiahle zbierky rododendrónov, kosatcov, ruží, pivoniek a lekien. Ale pekne po poradí podľa vegetačného obdobia. V máji kvitli rododendróny aj kosatce a bolo teda na čo sa pozerať. Všetky odrody majú svoju tabuľku, takže viete si poznačiť, ktorá sa Vám páčila.

And why did I go in this direction? Because there are extensive collections of rhododendrons, irises, roses, paeonias and waterlilies on top of hill. But let's take it orderly by the vegetation period. In May, rhododendrons and irises were blooming, so there really was something to look at. All varieties have their own lable, so you can note what you liked.

Kosatce sú človekom prešľachtené, ako sa len dá a preto existujú vo všetkých farbách okrem čiernej. Najpopulárnejšie sú kefkovité kosatce bradaté (Iris barbata), ktoré majú viditeľné tyčinky (kefky). Jednofarebné, dvojfarebné, zvlnené, žilkované, akékoľvek si prajete.  

Irises are breeded by human as much as possible and therefore they exist in all colors except black. The most popular are the bearded irises (Iris barbata), which have visible stamens (brushes). One-coloured, two-coloured, undulated, veined, whatever you want.

V hornej časti zbierkovej plochy sú vystavené rododendróny a japonské azalky. Jedna farba krikľavejšia než druhá. Tieto druhy sú v záhradách populárne, no budú sa dariť, len ak im dáte kyslú zeminu.

At the top of the collection area are displayed rhododendrons and Japanese azaleas. One color is more vibrant than the other. These species are popular in gardens, but they will only be happy if you give them acidic soil.

Zbierky The collections - Leto Summer

Prehupnem sa do leta. Koncom júna som zbierky znova navštívil, aby som videl aj ostatné druhy.

Let's swith to summer. I visited the collections at the end of June again, to see other species. 

Niekoľko malých jazierok je domovom lekien (Nymphaea), lekníc (Nuphar lutea), rezavky aloovitej (Stratiotes aloides) a ďalších druhov.

A few little ponds are home for waterlilies (Nymphaea), brandy-bottles (Nuphar lutea), water pineapple (Stratiotes aloides) and many more species.

Ruže Roses

Na ruže som sa veľmi tešil. Z toľkých farieb a vôní som ostal omámený. Aj keď som sa skláňal a voňal len niektoré ruže, dalo to zabrať :)

I was looking forward to roses very much. Was blown away from such colours and scents. Even bending and smelling only some roses, I was exhausted.

Na tejto fotke vidno, že zbierka pokračuje až ďaleko do kopca. Sú tu nízke polyantky, popínavé i kríkové odrody.

In this picture can be seen , that the collection continues far away towards the hill. Low polyanthas, climbing and bushy cultivars. 

Aj jednoduché ruže majú svoje čaro (vľavo) a navyše poskytujú nektár a peľ pre včely.

Simple flowering roses have some magic too (left) and moreover they provide nectar and pollen for bees.

Dlhé rady popínavých ruží majú svoje kúzlo. Akoby som bol v labyrinte farieb.

Long rows of climbing roses have their charm. Like I was in labyrinth of colors.

Popínavé odrody, ktoré majú bohaté súkvetia počítajúc desiatky kvetov v jednom zväzku sú zväčša tzv. ramblery. Teda odrody kvitnúce veľmi bohato, ale iba raz v roku.

Climbing roses that bear rich inflorescens counting tens of flowers in one bunch are mostly so-called ramblers. They flower profusely, but only once a year.

V spodnej aj hornej časti sú záhony kríkových ruží.

Borders of bushy roses are in lower and upper part too.

Vpravo dole je populárna odroda 'Nostalgie'. Je to odolná a silno voňavá odroda.
